Friday Footwear Feature

I was browsing through my shoe collection yesterday morning, trying to find a pair to go with a casual grey Abercrombie tank top that I was pairing with a brand new pair of these bad ass earrings I bought at Von Maur. They're onyx vintage deco with 3 bold teal feathers hanging from them. They were awesome, but looked less intense than I'd intended because I COULD NOT find a pair of shoes in my closet that set them off. I have 4 pairs of black heels, none of which were casual enough to go with that top and a pair of jeans. I felt like I needed some cork or braided straw based wedges, which I don't own believe it or not. I have a super dressy pair of black heels which the brand name is slipping my mind right now but I would probably only wear with a dress. I have a pair of dressy peep toe BCBG's that I would only sport at work with dress pants because they're really not as stylish as much as they are professional. Then I have a pair of curved point Steve Madden's that I also really only wear at work, but would be more apt to wear out on the weekends. And lastly, the most amazing pair that Doc bought me last year of Michael Kors wooden platforms that look amazing with a pair of skinnys and a cute "going out" top, but have gold accents so are a little hard to match with everything. So as you can see, nothing suitable for the look I was going for yesterday. I ended up settling for my mocha colored Michael Kors suede wedges, which are literally my favorite pair of shoes, mostly because of their comfort and classic style, but they honestly didn't go great with my outfit - not epic, but still a fail.

That being said, I've decided I need to grab a pair of casual black heels. I know exactly what I'm looking for, and when it comes to casual, comfortable, long lasting heels, Steve Madden is typically my go-to, especially when I'm not wanting to spend a ton of money to achieve such a casual look. So...I've found them - simple and better still...on sale! I apologize for the small image - Steve Madden makes great shoes, but their website is not what I consider to be "user-friendly". These are also available in Khaki.

On an entirely different note, last night I ordered the coolest rings to surprise Glenna and Emma with in remembrance of Morgan. We've all established that Morgan was one cool chick - different from any girl you'd ever met, nontraditional to say the least. When I think of Morgan, I think of her tattoos, her piercings, her smile, her dramatic make-up, her dry humor, her mellow demeanor, and perhaps more than anything else her beautiful recklessness. Glenna mentioned the other day that she was looking for something cool to put Mo's ashes in. She said she'd found some neat things in the form of charms for a necklace to wear around with her always. I thought that seemed like a really cool idea. Her only complaint was that she felt like none of them really suited Morgan. This in no way surprised me, as most things on this earth didn't really suit Morgan - again...one-of-a-kind. She said she feels like the most fitting of charms would be a skull and crossbones kind of thing. I commented that the skull and crossbones need a pink bow on its head, we both had a laugh at that. As funny as it sounds, we're both right, nothing would be more fitting to honor her memory. I googled and found a sold-out item that I was able to purchase on eBay for the three of us. It is from my favorite designer, which makes it all the more fitting (Betsey Johnson). When I get these in the mail, I'll have them engraved with Morgan's name, year of birth, and year of death and give them to Emma and Glenna to wear for always. Below is a small picture of what they look like. Why am I posting this here, for all to see? Well, I don't really think either of them look at my blog, and if they did, oh well - they'll find out soon enough. And I really wanted to share my great find with anyone who follows me.

perfect.
